Jack was supposed to go with me but he was tired from mountain biking the day before. So Blair got the call to join me scouting a stretch of river I had not been on for a while. With a client the following day it was important to check for hazards and get a feel for what the trout were doing. Armed wit spinners, we headed down river. Ten or 12 fish later, it was safe to say they were on the bite. Yes, I only caught two. Lots of spots changed, as usual but I spotted several trout on the edges to target the next day. Unfortunately, the new yoke broke when I tried to carry the canoe up the steps. We got back to my place, cut a piece of wood, drilled some holes, screwed some metal plates onto the break, then used roofing screws to attach the support. It was good as gold after that. Then I smoked three trout for Blair to take home the next morning.
