No Deer but got Some Trout

Submitted by Dave on

I got up early this morning and finished my work. I was at sea yesterday but thought I would go look for a stag. By 0600 I was on the water having my very own glow worm tour. It was so quiet and awesome. I floated very slowly down from the bridge and took in every sound and glowing sight. There was not a deer around but there were plenty of trout rising. After a couple of hours of serenity, I put the rod together. First cast with the bead head olive damsel nymph, I caught a good rainbow. Then I got another on a bead head yellow and black bugger, right where river meets lake. Then I put on the egg sucking rabbit. I slowly sight fished my way back up without a care in the world. I teased a lot of browns and hooked a couple; they were all sighted first. I even tried some foam-line-rising rainbows, but I missed them all. There were trout rising in all of the foam lines. It was a perfect morning, I could still be there casting dry flies to them. But instead I scouted where all of the trout were feeding and cruising. My mate, Dan, is coming to visit for a couple of weeks and I want him to catch all of them. Let's just hope we do not get too much rain this coming weekend; it may spell the end of the dry fly fishing for the season. Six hours went by before I made it back to the bridge, thoroughly enjoying the time. There will be a video at some point.
