Today we went to Matahina as the river was still a bit too high and dirty. Frank brought his spinning rods and armed himself with a 1/32 ounce tube jig. He wanted to catch a couple of browns. He landed eight of them and a couple dozen rainbows. Conditions were perfect. No wind, sunshine over head and sight fishing for cruising trout all day long. It was pretty awesome. I did bring my fly rod to use but we never even put it together.
