Back at the Barrell

Jack was really keen so we went below the Aniwhenua Dam for a quick, evening fish. I caught a yellowfin yesterday and I am heading out again tomorrow. The whole river system is still a bit high and dirty. There were lots of fish stuck below the dam as is typical after big flows. Jack used a soft bait and caught three before I got one on a bead head grey bugger. Then I shot down to the stretch below and picked one up on a grey Wulff; it was literally the first fly that fell out of the box. Then I got one on a chartreuse glo bug. Then we left after about an hour of fishing. There are plenty of fish there folks, go get them.

We went back three evenings later and we both blanked. Oh well, that's fishing!
