A Quick Fish After a Hunt

Submitted by Dave on

We went for a quick deer hunt then chased a few trout. There was a strong southerly and it was cold! Picked up a skinny brown on the bugger. I am guessing it was spawned out already. It was cold and windy and the fishing was not very good.

On our way out the sun had warmed the water. There were a couple of mayflies hatching but no surface activity. Then we found some risers in a foam line. I had a go with a Dad's Favourite Dry Fly and caught a very well conditioned river rainbow destined for the smoker. That is about all there is to report.

While this hunt was uneventful, two nights ago we got three fallow and four hares. We took Wendy and her 13-year-old son out. Both shot their first deer! It was epic.
